Because man does not live by data alone
"It is amusing that, when our countrymen idly grope for exemplars of brilliant intellection, they invariably mention brain surgeons and rocket scientists, neither category of which, so far as I can see, has any necessary connection to the kind of mind and character necessary to useful citizenship or to the arts of leading. Indeed it might be urged that such laboriously cultivated skills (with certain uses in the world no doubt) are antipathetic to the kinds of wisdom that citizenship and leading demand" (Josiah Bunting III, An Education for Our Time, p. 20).
